no buttonholes, distracted by a fabric cull

Foolishly last night I forgot to do the buttonholes / dart alteration before I headed to my storage room to cull some of my fabrics. I've got a small pile separated out to donate to the Fabric Cave (a charity craft shop), and I found my missing Laughing Moon regency stays pattern. I knew that would only happen after I replaced it. I'd piled fabric & patterns on my cutting table and some had cascaded off. The patterns are from when the drawer base fell out and I'm working my way through culling some, and the fabric is from trying to decide what to sew at a retreat. Inspiration strikes on seeing plenty of opportunities, but the habit of putting it back straight away never got developed.

So by the time I came back upstairs it was just that bit too late for me to start sewing - the building I live in has poor noise abatement, and I don't want neighbours complianing to my landlord about noise.

Tonight, buttonholes and I can wear the shirt tomorrow!

    1. Its also truly evol!!!! I'm known among my costume & sewing friend for how much i dislike it. Plus it triggers my tennis elbow. Otherwise a good suggestion ;)

    2. I started as a handsewer and only recently taken up machine sewing. Its why my output has tripled. lol! I've been known to just hop between both. During the day I use the machine by soon as it hits 9pm I go over to handsewing. Well its mainly handbasting in prep for the machine these days. But I do enjoy a good embroidery session.
Been trying to sew solely from my stash...problem is a lot of it doesn't match...so having to think creatively.

  2. I did a fabric cull a couple of years ago and am still working through the "muslin." Though I donated some, I figured the rest could be used for practice garments. A pattern cull is in serious need right now!

    1. Now that ebay & etsy are around I can risk gifting patterns I can't imagine using .... I can find something better easily
