For March I'm declaring an assault on the clothes I need for a Jane Austen festival. For starters I'm making a 2piece skirt & top using this dress pattern from
Past Patterns #031 and some fabric from my stash.
I have plenty of other garments that I need to make for the 3 day event, so there's more to come than this 2-piece morning dress.
What a pretty costume , this will be.. Love the fabric..
ReplyDeleteThanks, I hope the result is what I think it will be!
DeleteLovely fabric. I've never made a period costume I will be interested to see the final result I sure it's going to be very pretty
ReplyDeleteThanks - I've made a few but need more for a 3 day event. There's no obligation to dress in costume apart from the formal dinner on the Friday and the Saturday night ball ... but it's the perfect excuse to have them :)
Delete-needs to put Sunday's fabric in the post to you for our matchy matchy pretties!-
ReplyDeletewhheeeeeee!
DeleteWhat fun! Have you ever seen women of colour at these events? I would certainly love to attend one (if only in my dreams). Will be fun to watch your progress on this.
ReplyDeleteCheers,

It would be historically accurate if there were :) So long as you had money, it didn't matter - there were men & women of colour in society at the time then (UK at least). Here in Australia I've not met any at this in past years - which is a shame. But then even most of the anglos I know think this is an odd (but safe) hobby to have.
